Workshop | Unearthing Bias: Removing Psychological Barriers to Intercultural Communication

The Unearthing Bias workshop offers participants an immersive and in-depth exploration of the multifaceted nature of human bias. It recognizes that bias is inherent in all individuals, shaped by various factors such as personal experiences, cultural influences, and societal structures. However, the workshop goes beyond acknowledging individual biases and delves into the pervasive impact of societal norms and power dynamics.

One significant aspect addressed in the workshop is the problematic definitions and stereotypes that have been attached to cultural groups within our society. These inaccurate and unjust associations contribute to the creation of inequitable biases, particularly within the framework of global white racial supremacy. Such biases construct a facade of superiority for those classified as white, while insinuating an innuendo of inferiority for individuals identified as non-white.

Through interactive and thought-provoking discussion, the Unearthing Bias workshop encourages participants to critically examine their own biases and challenge prevailing stereotypes. Ultimately, the workshop empowers us to recognize the impact of bias on both personal and systemic levels, and equips us with the tools to actively produce racially equitable and inclusive workplaces.
