Workshop | One Size Fits One: The Impact of Strength-Based Development on the Bottom Line
Driving for results in an organization is essential to maintaining a successful business. The best way to achieve those results comes from a committed and engaged workforce, but we often settle for committed employees alone. Maybe because the level of productivity seems to overpower the threat of disengagement or perhaps the process to overhaul the current culture of not checking in beyond the work to be done seems too time consuming. Either way, the health of the organization suffers when employees are not engaged. This workshop focuses on how adding the equitable lens of strength-based development can positively impact employee engagement and help build a committed and engaged workforce.
This workshop will use research from Gallup to highlight the high rate of disengaged employees in the workforce. Additional data will show improved engagement rates with the introduction of strengths-based practices at work and how these practices also improve one’s quality of life outside of work.
Through the exploration of the CliftonStrength philosophy and original research question by Don Clifton, this workshop seeks to correlate the feeling of belonging and psychological safety in the workplace to an equity-centered approach to development in resistance to the conventional approach to development.
Workshop attendees should leave with a better understanding of how to shift their own experiences at work by articulating their needs and be prepared to advocate for others by creating a business case to change how their organization measures success.
